In his late teens he was
a professional showjumper and in his early twenties he spent
time in National Hunt racing in Surrey, before moving to
Suffolk to manage a racing stud – his charge being
the famous Indian Ridge. After a period away from Equestrian
Sport he followed his urge for adventure and he traveled
to Russia in search for outstanding sport horses.
Jonathan also represented the ILPH’s interest in former
Soviet Block countries reporting on welfare issues. It was in
Belarus that he discovered the first horses for his team of
International Sport horses – Zerro II being one of the
most successful, having competed for Britain on Nations Cup
Teams. At the same time Jonathan acquired Rampuns.
